BIOGRAPHY: From Old Families of Louisiana, Published 1931, New Orleans, LA (courtesy of Randy DeCuir)

BIOGRAPHY: Some of Etienne Henry's sons became planters in various parts of Louisiana, particularly in the Red River parishes; some became merchants in New Orleans. Among the latter were the two youngest, Jean Baptiste Plauché and Jacques Henri Urbain Plauché.

BIOGRAPHY: Jacques Henri Urbain Plauché, best known as Urbain Plauché, also fought under General Andrew Jackson. On July 9, 1809, he, a Catholic, was married to Mary (or Polly, as she was called) Brown, a Protestant, the daughter of William and Dicey (or Dacie) Brown of the Red River parish of Rapides. William Brown came to Louisiana from Kentucky with his wife, who was Dicey White of South Carolina, and settled in Rapides in 1800, where the head of the family died in 1820, his wife dying three years earlier.
