Notes
BIOGRAPHY: "In 1836 Francis Locke Kincannon died in Tennessee, leaving
his widow Mary Ann Garner with three small sons. In 1837 it was decided
that she should bring the boys to Mississippi to live where they had
relatives. With three sons, Hugh, James, and Landon [I have his name as
Francis, so it was probably Landon Francis or Francis Landon], a colored
man and woman servant, she loaded a wagon and joined a wagon train on her
journey South. At Selma, Alabama Mary Ann Garner Kincannon was stricken
ill and died. She was buried in an unmarked grave in Tuscaloosa County,
Alabama. The servants continued the trip, and brought the boys to their
uncle Andrew Kincannon at Columbus, Mississippi."
